Noxious weeds are troublesome for farmers, ranchers, and property owners. They also pose a major threat to healthy ecosystems and are a source of fuel for wildfires. Douglas County does not have a noxious weed control board to enforce the State’s noxious weed laws. FCCD works with landowners, non-profits, and government agencies to help manage noxious weeds using voluntary, cooperative, and science-based solutions.
Early Detection Rapid Response (EDRR)
EDRR is a method for locating and treating small infestations of new noxious weeds in Douglas County.
Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA)
CWMA aims to improve weed management in Douglas County through increased coordination.
Biocontrols
FCCD partners with Washington State University Extension to distribute biological control insects that help control noxious weed populations.
