FCCD has many initiatives supporting regenerative agriculture in Douglas County including trialing different cover crops, sampling soils to better understand the effects of best management practices, expanding virtual fencing for livestock, and providing cost share opportunities for producers.

Cover Crop Trials

Sorghum is currently being trialed as a cover crop with the potential to decrease soil erosion while increasing soil moisture and organic matter.

Soil Sampling

We collect soil samples to observe biological activity, living roots, topsoil conditions, as well as overall soil health and structure.

Virtual Fencing

Vence GPS collars allow farmers to monitor cattle movement and create custom grazing plans that benefit overall range health.

Cost Share Opportunities

FCCD hosts cost share opportunities for farmers looking to expand sustainable practices on their land such as no-till and direct seed.
